By sharing the information, experiences and collaborating effectively on research and development in making campuses smart through knowledge-based practices students and faculty would contribute in meeting Sustainable Development Goals. They would also be able to drive actions to demonstrate the mitigation of Green House Gases (GHGs) and address climate change at campus level.

The network would engage in positive exchanges and constructive competition among the campuses to trigger the innovative ideas and creative implementation.

SCCN would pose as skill building institution for future Smart Cities and possible collaboration with similar networks like C40.
