Going with the national wave of unique identification, the College of Engineering Pune (CoEP) has come up with its homegrown equivalent of the Aadhaar Card, it seems. But the 'combo card' — introduced in collaboration with the State Bank of India (SBI) — would not just be proof of identity for its students, it will help them withdraw money, too.
The card has been equipped with the Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) integrated with the SBI card, which has been undertaken by CoEP, which means that each of its students would have a personalised ID. It's a oneof- a-kind initiative and CoEP is the first college to implement it in Pune.
CoEP director BB Ahuja told Mirror, "Students need to keep only one card to be used for library book issues, hostel entrance, while promoting digital transactions on campus and so on. Also, the students may receive their scholarship directly into their respective bank accounts, since most government scholarships are released through SBI."
