UGC, AICTE and UNESCO together


15 Vice Chancellors, 15 Deans/Directors and 10 Professors from leading institutes of Southern India participated in the roundtable consultation organized by TERRE Policy Centre and SRM University on 18th May 2019 at SRM University.

A one-day consultative meeting in SRMIST campus, Chennai was organized to discuss the objectives, process of implementing Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) and its essential features that would benefit education system and career of students. The opportunities that open for the youth to mainstream SDGs in their career would need close interaction among the educational institutes and other stakeholders.

The consultation was based on the following key objectives:

  1. Provide the current status of SCCN and discuss its prospects.
  2. Collate information on on-going activities of the universities on SDGs.
  3. Identify the additional projects within SCCN, like Carbon Neutral University Campus
  4. Get suggestions on the need for additional features of SCCN from the participants
  5. Recognise the advantages of networking with other universities on SDGs and Climate Change to trigger innovations and entrepreneurship.
  6. Discuss the possibility of university ranking based on sustainability and annual sustainability reports of campuses.
  7. Collate the suggestions from the universities
    The roundtable was honoured by the presence of Dr. Bhushan Patwardhan, Vice Chairman UGC. Dr. M P Poonia, Vice Chairman AICTE was represented by Dr. Sundaresan, Regional Officer & Assistant Director AICTE.
