July 2025 isn't just hot; it's rewriting history! Human-induced climate change is fueling the extremes and that too across the globe, shattering records with terrifying frequency.
Europe is sizzling: Just a day back some cities in Spain reached 44°C, South Germany reached 39°C, London reached 33 °C, France closed 1300 schools due to high temperatures triggering health alerts.
South America is Shivering: While the North bakes, parts of South America froze. Chile saw its coldest May in 74 years in 2024, a stark reminder that climate chaos disrupts all norms. And in July 2025, Argentina - as well as neighbouring Chile and Uruguay saw the cold snap leading to unexpected snowfall in some areas, with chill winds.
Asia is Flooding: Torrential rains have caused uncontrolled floods in India and China displacing hundreds of thousands.
Siberia, Canada and Turkey are raging: This year massive blazes of wild fires in Canada, Turkey, South Korea, Alaska and Siberia are pumping smoke across continents. Wildfire frequency has increased over 50% in many regions since the 1980s.
The Statistics are screaming: Global average temperature is already ~1.5°C above pre-industrial levels (WMO, 2024). The last decade was the hottest in 125,000 years.
This isn't just Climate Change. It is our refusal for Life Style Change! It's the cascading failure of our inaction to phase down fossil fuel. The Cure? We have crossed the limit and there is no sign of bending the rising curve of emissions that cause climate change. The Youth in university-campus show the rays of hope for wider and immediate global action to slash fossil fuel emissions. They can prevent these extremes from becoming the unbearable, permanent norm.
