Roadmap for Carbon Neutrality in MITADT

The serene campus of MIT Arts, Design & Technology (MITADT) University is now ready to become Carbon Neutral. A formal meeting was organized with Dr. Sunil Rai, Vice-Chancellor and SCCN Core Group representatives of the campus in 2nd Jan 2020. Rajendra Shende, Chairman and Dinah Gengmei, Project Leader from SCCN of TERRE Policy Centre had an insightful discussion about the objectives and tools of SCCN, and how the existing eco-friendly and sustainable activities can be enhanced and outreached among other universities in the city as well as nationally. Prof. Lalit Kumar, Assistant Professor - Electronics and Communication Engineering Department has been appointed as SCCN Campus Coordinator of MITADT and is actively leading its core group.

Dr. Sunil Rai agreed with SCCN's vision (see: sccnhub.com) of creating smart campuses by creating smart minds. He expressed his sheer support and enthusiasm to engage students and faculties in implementing the sustainable activities through various IT related projects and otherwise. Hence, campus under the facilitation of TERRE-SCCN team will ensure active participation to initiate new activities and scale-up the existing activities like, smart bins, e-waste management, solar panels installation, etc in MITADT.

MITADT, which has also become the western hub of SCCN has taken up Carbon Neutrality as its priority and will soon start the pilot phase of 'Campus Carbon Footprint Calculator', owned by SCCN as a part of students' activity.
