On 3rd September 2018, TERRE Policy Centre and Fergusson College (FC) interacted about SCCN implementation in FC campus. Dr. Ravindrasinh Pardeshi, Principal took an active participation in the discussion, sharing the vision and potential areas to carry out SCCN activities in the campus. To give the brief introduction of past and existing socio-environmental activities by the staff and students of FC, Dr. Samir and Mrs. Aparna, the two leading faculties of FC explained the varied events and projects that have been a part of FC's objectives towards environment. Rajendra Shende, Chairman TERRE and Former Director UNEP and Dinah Gengmei, Project Leader TERRE led the session by giving a etailed presentation on SCCN, followed by an intense discussion on how to go about it in FC campus
While majority area of FC campus is under renewable energy and recycled water is used for garening purpose, the students are also extensively engaged with short term internships and projects related to environmental subjects. The concept of zero waste and e-waste are practiced in the campus. Additionally, during the World Wildlife Week, the students and staff enthusiastically participate and volunteer in the Film Festival organized by Kirloskars.
In the administration level, the college has been working on the ERP system for managing the life cycle of students' activities right from their admission till the end of their tenure in campus. The exams and all the communications related to it and otherwise are done via emails and messages. The campus takes extra care to avoid over-use or unnnecessary use of paper.
