The first SCCN campus orientation was held in Symbiosis Institute of International Business (SIIB), Pune on 27th December, 2016. The introductory speech by Dr. Prakash Rao, Deputy Director of SIIB followed by Mr. Rajendra Shende, Chairman of TERRE Policy Centre was inspiring and a great start to the orientation. The program was then supported by three Presentations, presented by Dinah Gengmei, Project Leader from TERRE, Parth Yadav from Ecolibrium Energy and Amruta Desai, Founder of CampusTime App. The orientation was concluded by an interactive session where, the SCCN team got valuable feedback and responses from students and faculty of SIIB. "The SCCN project facilitates transformation of educational campuses into Smart Campus, focusing on enhancing Energy efficiency, water conservation, sustainable transport in campus and others. Keeping in view the agenda of Smart Cities & Digital India, SCCN can serve as a platform to enhance the dialogue between faculty & students to implement the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This dialogue will not only enable capacity building of internal stakeholders of campus, but will also contribute positively towards achieving the SDGs goals.The opportunity to participate in initiatives for efficient use of Energy, Water, Waste and Transport will surely impact the external stakeholders through new ideas emerging from SCCN," said Vinay Kanade, MBA - Energy & Environment, SIIB.
