 Single Use Plastic Free Campus

Pune, 1st July 2022,

Carrying forward the spirit of 'Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava', an activity named "Single Use Plastic Free Campus" was organised by National Service Scheme Unit of Fergusson College (Autonomous), Pune on 1st July, 2022. Aiming on creating the awareness among the people to curb pollution caused by littered and unmanaged plastic waste via posters, rally, etc.

On this occasion, the special guest were Dr Rajendra Shende (Chairman TERRE Policy Centre, former Director UNEP) who not only enlightened the students with their knowledge, but also inspired them to be a responsible youth of the nation by protecting our mother earth. Along with him, Mrs Madhuri Sahastrabuddhe (Corporator, Warje- Karvenagar Ward) was also present. She highlighted on the point on how students should take a stand on single use plastic and use other alternatives. The Convener, Dr Ravindrasingh Pardesi (Principal) and Prof Rupali Gaikwad (Environmental Science) guided the students in this event.

Overall the event took place in presence of Project Officers of NSS Unit, Dr Santosh Pharande, Mr Shivaji Kokate and Dr Sonalika Pawar. Seeing students enthusiasm towards this event, it seemed that the goal had been achieved.
