Appreciating Young Volunteers

Nature-based solutions offer the best way to achieve human well-being, tackle climate change and protect our living planet. Yet nature is in crisis, as we are losing species at a rate 1,000 times greater than at any other time in recorded human history and one million species face extinction. In addition to important moments for decision makers, including the COP 15 on Biodiversity, the 2020 "super year" is a major opportunity to bring nature back from the brink.

On 24th Feb. 2020, Terre Policy Centre under Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) in the presence of the representatives from communities in and around the Kaas Plateau organized felicitation programme for its 3 Expert Volunteers for their contribution in preparing Report on Management of Kaas Plateau, UNESCO World Natural Heritage Site . The Volunteers for their efforts were felicitated and appreciated by Bajrang Kadam - President of Joint Forest Management Committee, Satara and Rajendra Shende - Chairman of TERRE Policy Center.

The programme highlighted on reducing the human-nature conflict to allow the biodiversity to flourish at Kaas which has been getting affected because of excessive human intervention. Thus, the people from the local community were given with the responsibility to protect the natural biodiversity with which they are blessed. TERRE ensured constant support and participation of young volunteers to contribute towards the conservation of Kaas Plateau.

The Expert Volunteers Felicitated were:
1. Ar. Anuja Gurjar
2. Akshay Kulkarni
3. Neha Potnis
