We are waking up to the dawn of the fourth industrial revolution, which is characterized by a fusion of technologies that is blurring the lines between the physical, digital, and biological spheres.
Each revolution has seen quantum jump in improvement in well-being of the life of the people, called as 'development'. At the same time each of the industrial revolution has also resulted into dramatic degradation of the ecosystem on the planet Earth on whose resources human civilization depends. Particularly, the second industrial revolution, 'Technology Revolution', saw advent of mass production with assembly lines and then, came the awakening about accelerated degrading of the ecosystems. Today, we are over-consuming the Earth's resources faster that Earth can regenerate.
Amidst this gloom, there are signals of new emerging world. India is certainly the case. With more than 50 per cent of its population under the age of 27, the second largest English speaking population in the world and second largest number of internet users on mobile devices, India has key attributes to play a pivotal role in moulding the fourth Industrial revolution in a responsible, scalable and inclusive manner to help achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) .
The combination of technological breakthroughs such as, Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), Cloud-Networking, Robotics and Cobotics have sown the seeds of the fourth industrial revolution.
Good news comes from the opportunity that is now on the platter. The world can deploy these smart technologies towards the Sustainable Development.
However, the opportunity on platter cannot be deployed unless there are skilled youth ready to bend the technology edges to fit into the
'Future We Want' as per Agenda 2030. That exactly is the objective of Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) .
SCCN is the unique tool box for the universities, colleges and schools to skill tomorrow's leaders and policy makers. What more, this tool does not require yet another establishment, buildings or hard-infrastructure. SCCN is the movement to transform the way the education is imparted.
SCCN emphasises 'learning by doing'. The students and faculty work together to make their campus more energy efficient, water-secured, waste-managed, clean, green and sustainable. It is an updated educational ecosystem that equips the youth for availing benefits of the fourth revolution.
India's Prime Minister Modi's clarion call, 'Together for All, Development for All' begins at the educational campus through smart technological evolution brought by TERRE Policy Centre through SCCN. See www.sccnhub.com
