Ecolibrium Energy wins Ashden award

SCCN partner for SmartSense, Ecolibrium Energy wins prestigious Ashden Award

Innovative Indian start-up organisation and SCCN collaborative partner, Ecolibrium Energy has been announced as one of the 13 winners of the 2017 Ashden Awards, the world's leading green energy awards.

Winner of the International Ashden Award for Powering Business, Ecolibrium Energy – based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat - are working with some of the biggest global brands in India to help manage energy use in business processes and buildings. They use big data and predictive energy analytics to improve efficiency and reduce carbon emissions.

According to the Ashden Judges, "Ecolibrium's business intelligence technology demonstrates how the power of big data can make a significant difference when it comes to monitoring and optimising energy use. With Ecolibrium Energy's technology, which can be applied across many different operations, large businesses – including blue chip clients - can understand, control and massively reduce their energy and maintenance costs."

In a country where a third of the population can suffer from power cuts lasting several hours, Ecolibrium Energy is addressing the need for demand-side energy management. Working with the likes of Coca Cola and Tata, the company has come up with a big data energy analytics platform, Smartsense, which is helping more than 750 commercial and industrial consumers and utilities in South Asia to save up to 15% of their energy and maintenance costs.

SmartSense in SCCN is sure to bring an impact in the way the educational campuses consumes energy. The SmartSense dashboard is guiding the colleges by imparting the understanding of their electricity consumption pattern and plan efficient ways of reducing it. Campuses will have similar dashboard for its water, waste and transport management as well.

According to Harit Soni, Co-Founder and Director of Ecolibrium Energy: "We are delighted to be a part of the select group of organisations to receive a prestigious Ashden Award this year. At Ecolibrium Energy, we believe industrial energy efficiency is going to be the key enabler of sustainable development for combating climate change, and we constantly strive to empower the sector with energy analytics for improvement of efficiency and predictive maintenance. We have been able to create a substantial impact in this sector in India and we hope the association with Ashden will be a step towards replicating this model globally; towards our vision of creating a world where every watt counts."

The Ashden Awards are given to pioneers in sustainable energy and are a globally recognised measure of excellence. This year's 13 winning organisations received their Award on 15 June at a prestigious ceremony at the Royal Geographical Society in London.
