HAB 59 - India’s Youth contributing towards Prime Minister’s call of Atmanirbhar Bharat

"Hackathon 59 for Atma Nirbhar Bharat 2020 (HAB 59)". The HAB-59 was devised to provide a platform to young Indian talented groups in application development for IT-based solutions in multiple categories related to the 59 Chinese apps banned by the Government of India.

Hackathon 59 was a National Level Hackathon that was being jointly organized by MIT Art, Design and Technology University, Pune and Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) project of TERRE Policy Centre. MIT ADT University is a registered university under SCCN and also one of the top-ranking universities in India engaged in skilling the students in Technology, Designs and Art.

For HAB-59, we had AIC - MIT ADT, Innovate India as the Incubation partner, and Tech Mahindra- Makers Lab as Innovation partners. The online hackathon platform was powered by event sponsors Devfolio, Matic Network, Microsoft and, Fold.

HAB-59 was conducted on 19th, 20th and 21st August 2020. Applications were invited on solutions in the form of apps to real-problems in domains pertaining to social applications, health, business, office productivity, e-learning, entertainment and gaming.

The prize distribution valedictory ceremony of HAB59 on 21st August, 2020 in the presence of dignitaries from Atal Innovation Mission, Education Promotion Society for India, Smart Campus Cloud Network and MIT Arts, Design and Technology University. HAB59 received participation count of 2500 students in the hackathon, later drilled to top 28 teams under each application after rigorous interview and several selection sessions.

The prize money for the winners was cash prize of Rs. 1,00,000/- to each teams followed by internship opportunity by Tech Mahindra & MakersLab. Total 13 teams received prize under each category.

Innovations were seen from developing facial biometric and automated grocery ordering chatbot to developing e-learning platform for differently abled people. Various other innovative solutions were also provided by the students proving the motto of our Prime Minister towards having Atmanirbhar Bharat.
