UNESCO applauds Smart Campus Cloud Network of TERRE Policy CentreEnter heading here...

9^th October 2017, Pune: "The time has come for re-examining intrinsic linkages between the digital innovations, technology penetration and increasing societal inclination for a digitized world. Undoubtedly, TERRE Policy Centre's efforts to link educational campuses using cloud networking would provide a meaningful way forward in this direction," stated Dr. Boyan Radoykov, Acting Director of Communication and Information of Knowledge and Societies Division of United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Paris.

Dr. Radoykov was concluding the discussion between TERRE Policy Centre and UNESCO in Paris on Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN). 'UNESCO hopes that its collaboration with TERRE would pave the way for sowing seeds to transform the universities through better understanding of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)', he added.

SCCN is flagship project of TERRE that digitally connects the university and college campuses and allows on-line information sharing on real time basis on the sustainable activities within the campus. The students and faculty through IOT (Internet of Things) and Cloud Network share the results of their activities with other campuses to trigger positive competition and innovation. The projects are enlisted as enabler for digital innovation to achieve Sustainable Development.

The initiative is supported by University Grant Commission of Ministry Human Resource Development of India. 22 universities are already in the network. Cloud Network and digital sharing of information has already been on cyberspace.

"UNESCO's association with SCCN is not only major milestone, it is huge boost to the very foundation and objective of SCCN," said Rajendra Shende, Chairman of TERRE Policy Centre and former Director of UNEP.

UNESCO, with its 195 member states, is the single most important specialized agency of United Nations that steadfastly pursues its objectives through five major programs: education, science, culture, communication and information, all of them so closely and directly related to the youth of the world. It is grand repository education related cutting-edge global initiatives. "Getting recognition from UNESCO for SCCN would add speed and scale for students' efforts towards sustainability", asserted Mr. Shende.

"SCCN of TERRE provides new context to United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). UNESCO will work closely with TERRE to maximize the benefits of this initiative and explore the possibility of scale up the initiative," stated Dr. Bhanu Neupane, Programme Specialist of UNESCO.

TERRE Policy Centre is not-for-profit organization and think-tank engaged in energy and food security. It is known for out-of-box thinking and innovative projects like urban forestry and social entrepreneurship for Sustainable Development.
