SCCN Member is not only Smart but Clean

Sri Shanmugha College of Engineering and Technology (SSCET), affiliated to Anna University and nestled in Pullipalayam on Sankari-Tiruchengode highway of Salem district ranked 4th position in Swachh Campus Ranking 2018 (Swachh means Clean in Hindi - Indian language) for maintaining, promoting and encouraging the culture of SWACHHATA (Cleanliness) among Higher Educational Institutions across India. The institution believes not only in educating the students, but also grooming characters with moral and ethical values, thus building the nation. Hence, to cultivate the leadership qualities and social concern among the students, various clubs are functioning such as NSS, YRC, Hacked Web, HAM Radio, Higher education, Women Empowerment, Nest Social Welfare etc. The emphasis is on transformational leadership rather than directional leadership. The aim of us is to establish new trends, introduce innovative training methodologies and thus guide students towards the path to success.

The vision of SSCET is "making the institute reputed in the field of engineering and technology by implementing best educational practices akin to global standards for fostering domain knowledge and develop research attitude among students to make them eligible to compete globally".

The institution has an extensive campus of about 120 acres with state-of-the-art classrooms, well equipped laboratories, computer centers and well-stocked library, Internet & Wi-Fi, Smart Classrooms, Transport, Cafeteria, Multi Gym, Incubation centers, Yoga Center, and separate hostels for boys and girls with all the modern amenities. The campus consists of lush green lawns, a playground and indoor games facilities. The faculty members and students have participated in various national and international seminars, workshops, symposiums, conferences and published paper in renowned journals.

SSCET actively participated in 'The 100 hours experiential Internship program' from 1st May to 31st July, 2018' under Swachh Bharat Summer Internship Camp, with the following broad plan of action:

1. Generating mass awareness on cleanliness and hygiene amongst students and staff members by holding regular ' ' on 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' to motivate them to contribute to this Campaign in a proactive manner.

2. Activities under 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' was a key component of all the community work done by the NSS volunteers of the college.

3. Students and Teachers were regularly participating in the special cleanliness drive in the college campus.

4. Events such as poster competitions, quizzes, debates, painting competitions, essay writing, poetry writing/reciting, speeches, skits on 'Swachh Bharat' were organized extensively.

5. Rallies on themes connected with 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan' in and around the college campus were conducted to create mass awareness on such issues.

6. Eminent people were invited to address students and staff members on issues connected with 'Swachh Bharat Abhiyan'.

7. Removal of all kind of waste material like plastic wastes, polythene wastes, unusable non bio-degradable material, etc. and weeding out the old flood damaged books from the library was one of the most important task carried out by the students and staffs.

8. Administration of the Mass pledge by students and staff members to maintain cleanliness of the college campus and its surrounding areas are done on a regular basis.
