SCCN joins Junior Robocon 2018 in Pandharpur
ViswashanthiGurkul Nivasi school, Pandharpur, the famous temple town in Maharashtra, hosted the 5th National Level Jr Robocon 2018 from 11th to 12th January 2018. Mr Rajendra Shende, Chairman of TERRE Policy Centre and Former Director UNEP was the chief guest for this grand event. Presided by Prof Swati Chate, Executive President of MIT group of Institutions, The Robocon 2018 attracted more than 600 students from 60 schools across Maharashtra and few other states as well.
With a central theme of agro automation with a motto , Lets Feed the world", the Jr.Robocon2018 focused on entire value chain of the food security and agriculture. In India agriculture has always been considered as the backbone of our economy. We have learnt ways and means to harvest resources for our food, clothing and shelter.
The Robocon2018 helped to fire the imagination of the young and aspiring minds to build Robotic devices which would cater to every stage of the farming cycle : right from farmgate to dining table.
This event, a unique one of its kind being held for last 5 years has undertaken various themes of national and international importance. Their glimpses are : Clean and Green Earth, Bharat 2020 - Make in India, Digital India and Smart cities.
This year's theme of the competition was aimed to explore the young minds' creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, team work, leadership and entrepreneur skills in designing devices which can be helpful in irrigation to save enormous amount of electricity, water, fuel, time and labor.
To enhance the relevance and tap the talent of the students of different age groups appropriately, the Robocon 2018 was further categorized in 3 groups based on grades and were given their competition projects in Supply Chain Systems, Smart Farming, Mission 104 ( in line with India's space odyssey of launching 104 satellites) and Agro-Innovations.
