Youth contribution towards fighting the Global Pandemic

Republican Student's Federation of India (RSF) a youth body based in Chandrapur, Maharashtra with support of Smart Campus Cloud Network (SCCN) of TERRE Policy Centre, had started the drive to donate grocery kits and masks to the needy families from the Chandrapur district of Maharashtra. Around 520 families have been assisted as of now. Around 500 to 600 masks were distributed to the sweepers, vegetable sellers, shopkeepers, workers, laborers' and other needy people.

In the country due to the COVID-19 spread, there has been shortage of all medical equipment especially masks, sanitizer, etc. Many workers especially people working in unorganized sectors are not able to procure these essential items because of high prices. RSF decided to distribute masks to such people.

For that the approach was made to the self-help group of women and they were given training to make masks. The masks were then approved by the doctor and it was finalized. Total 1000 masks were made by the self-help group and they charged rupees 12 per mask. All the precautions which are supposed to be taken were taken by the women of SHG.
