College Compost, a strong appeal!!!

Clean Up Your Act. Compost!!

'Clean up your act' is what comes to mind when we talk about composting, because whatever we got is never a waste. Everything that we call waste can be avoided to be treated as a waste, and when we talk about waste management and waste minimization, understanding the importance of composting becomes essentially crucial. No wonder, our Bollywood legend, Amitabh Bachchan has led various campaigns under 'Waste to Compost' and has driven various Swachh Bharat Mission drives in the country.

College campus is among one of the top leading waste generators.

With thousands and lakhs of students, faculties and administrative, it is evident that the rate at which a campus generates waste needs to be monitored. Amitabh Bachchan in one of his campaign strongly appeals the college to get a compost machine in-house and manage the college canteen wastes. Click here to watch the appeal.

What makes composting an ideal solution:

Soil conditioner: With compost, you are creating rich humus for lawn and garden. This adds nutrients to your plants and helps in retaining moisture in the soil.

Recycles kitchen and yard waste: Composting can divert as much as 30% of household waste away from the garbage can.

Introduces beneficial organisms to the soil: Microscopic organisms in compost help aerate the soil, break down organic material for plant use and ward off plant diseases.

Good for the environment: Composting offers a natural alternative to chemical fertilizers.

Reduces landfill waste: One-third of landfill waste is made up of compostable materials, and by doing composting we can easily avoid that.
