- Smart Campus Cloud Network explained

The Smart Campus Cloud Network has been at the forefront in driving the Sustainability mission for new India. The UGC (University Grant Commision) of Ministry of Human Resource Management has urged the college campuses across India to undertake SCCN activities and participate towards achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 2030.

The SCCN project believes in the philosophy of "Learning by Doing". To leverage the demographic dividend in India and other countries, the campus communities have been targeted so that tomorrow's experts, industry leaders and most importantly, the citizens are prepared with a high sense of "Sustainable Living" to make India a sustainable nation on the global map.

This project involves activities by students and the faculties within their campus to achieve the energy efficiency, water conservation and other work related to ecological sustainability. It also includes the activities related to complete sustainability lifecycle right from identifying the sustainability initiatives in the campuses to implementing them in order to improve their consumption patterns. The cloud platform helps in measuring, monitoring and assessing the data for further enhancing the efficiency. It is expected that the innovation by students resulting from positive competition with other university campuses, with whom the online data has been shared, would perpetuate creativity.

This involves the following steps:

1. Registration of the campus with SCCN
2. Sustainability assessment
3. Smart metering
4. Data analytics
5. Intelligent Dashboarding and Monitoring
6. Action Plan and Measures

Post the implementation phase, the energy consumption and conservation is comparatively analysed between different campuses. SCCN's dashboard is not just a dashboard but also a networking platform where in experts, faculty members and students can interact and ideate measures taken in respective campuses. This "Sustainability" focussed dialogue facilitates evolution of best practices for the campuses.

The SCCN project not only equips the colleges with meters and dashboards, but also provides the stakeholders with a dedicated mobile application. This allows for a continuous on campus and off campus engagement model.

Comparison platform:

The energy consumption is monitored using smart Sense 2.0, an intelligent IoT and Data analytics driven platform developed by SCCN project partner "Ecolibrium energy". This platform is best in class when it comes to smart metering. Campuses are given real time logs of the energy consumed.

The platform generates timely and customised reports. SCCN uses the dashboard to monitor all the campuses onboard and makes sure there are timely interventions. In todays world, IoT and Data analytics are the crux of all the mega projects. Any process can be optimised when there is a constant feedback.

SCCN is a platform rightly placed with world class technology to help the campuses join the countries in its effort to walk towards Sustainable Development Goals 2030.
