The Clean and Smart Campus Award 2019 is now in its scrutiny phase.
On 29th August 2019, the committee of 20 experts in the field of Civil Engineering, Environment and Information Technology assembled to discuss the strategic method for campus visits, wherein seven teams representing the seven colors of rainbow (VIBGYOR) were formed and the shortlisted campuses assigned to each team.
Soon after the meeting, the expert committees completed the campus visits in the 1stand 2ndweek of September in the following states, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Gujarat and India's capital territory Delhi.
The campus visits were, indeed, an eye-opening experience for the experts. Campuses that are exceling with innovative technologies to the campuses that are immensely motivated towards sustainability are sure bringing India a step closer in becoming a Smart Nation.
The campuses from the rural region of Bhubaneswar were also shortlisted. It was saddening to see the damage and loss of their extensive efforts (like tree plantation, solar installations, etc) damaged by the cyclone Fani that occurred in May 2019. However, these destructions have encouraged the campuses to start afresh and to start stronger. Many initiatives are adopted and planned by these campuses to make them more sustainable.
While there are yet lot of scope in the campuses, the Smart Campus Cloud Network (sccnhub.com) will leverage the activities to make every campus a smart campus in years to come.
The shortlisted campuses post campus visits are in the jury round and the winner will be soon announced. Stay posted !!
